Pro subscribers get AI-powered narrative analysis included — no API key required.

Included with Pro

Your Pro subscription includes 1,000 AI credits every month. Scene, chapter, and character analyses cost 1–3 credits each; consistency checks, dialogue analysis, and style operations cost 1–3 credits per run; AI Chat costs 1 credit per message. Rewrite, line edit, expansion, proofread, and narration scale with how much text you send — a small selection costs a fraction of a credit, a full scene typically runs 2–5. Credits are only charged on successful completion.

What that covers

A typical 80,000-word novel uses about 175 credits for a full analysis pass. A full-manuscript rewrite pass uses more, but your monthly allowance covers multiple rounds of analysis, rewriting, and revision.

What’s the difference between the two plans?: Bookshaper includes the full writing, organization, formatting, and export experience. Bookshaper Pro adds AI-powered narrative analysis, AI Chat for conversational coaching, scene rewrite and editing tools, style profiles with drift detection, consistency checking, interactive dashboards, and 1,000 monthly credits.
Will there be a free trial?: Yes. The free trial includes full access to all features plus 75 AI credits for narrative analysis. Join the early-access list to be notified when it launches.
Can I cancel anytime?: Yes. You’ll be able to cancel your subscription at any time. Access continues through the end of your billing cycle.
What are AI credits?: AI credits meter Bookshaper’s AI features. What if I run out of credits?: You can purchase credit packs for additional analysis. Packs start at $12.99 for 500 credits. Pack credits are added to your balance immediately and don’t expire at the end of your billing cycle.
Can I use my own AI API key instead?: Yes. Bookshaper supports Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) mode for Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT), Google (Gemini), Mistral, Groq, OpenRouter, and Together.ai. OpenRouter and Together.ai give you access to hundreds of open-source and frontier models — including Llama, DeepSeek, Qwen, and Mixtral — through a single key. Connect your key in Settings, and analysis requests go directly to the provider at their rates — no Bookshaper credits needed.
What payment methods will you accept?: Credit and debit cards through Stripe. Apple Pay and Google Pay may also be available.
Are my manuscripts used for AI training?: No. Your manuscripts are never used for AI training. You retain full ownership and all rights to your work.
